Large bronze monument of Amida Buddha at the Kotoku-in Temple in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. This bronze monument is one of the most famous icons of Japan.  Temple records date this statue as early as 1243.   
Amida is also called the "god of immeasurable life and light" in Buddhist theory.  Amida is characterized by his longevity and the attributes of discernment,  perception and awareness.
